This summer I had the pleasure of spending two weeks studying under the master doumbec artist Raquy Danzinger. The retreats were located in beautiful upstate New York. The first week was a doumbec teacher retreat, with the final exam being the creation and performance of an original three-part group piece that utilized both Arabic and Turkish drumming techniques. The second week was a boot camp for Turkish split finger training. Sound worse then it was and I had a great time basking in the glow of Doumbec Geeky Goodness! —Graybeard
